What does ChatGPT say when someone asks for an AC tech in your neighborhood?

More customers ask an AI assistant to find a company, compare a few, and even make the call. When the answer is wrong, you lose jobs you never hear about.

My AC quit. Who can come out tonight in Kenwood?
The assistant's answer is left blank on purpose.
Which companies it names, and the hours and phone numbers it gives: that's what the free scan captures. From the real consumer apps, for your trade and your area.

The problem

Your customers are asking a bot first.

People still Google. But more of them now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or Claude to find someone, compare a few names, and more and more, to place the call or the booking for them. Google is already rolling out agents that phone home-repair businesses on the customer's behalf.

That makes your website, your listings, and the way your phone gets answered the thing these bots read and use. Most home-service businesses aren't set up for it.

01

It names your competitor.

A homeowner in Shore Acres asks for an AC repair company. The answer lists three shops. You’re not one of them, even though you run calls on that street every week. That lost job never shows up anywhere you can see it.

02

It gets your facts wrong.

The assistant says you close at 5. You take emergency calls until 10. Or it gives out a number you dropped two years ago. The customer doesn’t argue. They go to the next name.

03

Nobody picks up after hours.

It’s 8:40 p.m. and the water heater is leaking. The call goes to voicemail. No callback until morning. By then they’ve booked someone who answered.

Most owners have no idea any of this is happening. That's what the scan is for.

How it works

Three steps. The first one is free.

  1. 1

    Free AI visibility scan

I capture what the major AI assistants actually say when someone asks for your trade in your neighborhood, from the real consumer apps, then check it by hand. It costs you nothing and takes none of your time.

  2. 2

    Scorecard + letter

You get a one-page scorecard in the mail: who gets named, how often, and what the assistants get wrong about you. Real screenshots. A QR code opens the full findings.

  3. 3

    The deep audit

Every major AI assistant, your listings everywhere, how your phones answer after hours, and a ranked list of fixes. This is the paid part. Details below.

The audit

What the audit buys you.

  • Captures across the major AI assistants, for the searches your customers actually run
  • Listing check across Google, Bing, Apple, Yelp, and Facebook: do they all agree, and are they right?
  • Technical checks: online booking, structured data, AI-crawler access, and whether a bot can actually use your site to find your number or book
  • An after-hours mystery call and a web-form test
  • A ranked fix list, with a time estimate for each fix
  • A 30-minute walkthrough with me

It starts with your facts.

First, you confirm a facts record: business name, address, phone, hours, service area, and services. That record becomes ground truth. Every AI answer and every listing gets checked against it.

Monitoring

Keep the facts right after they're fixed.

$1,295/ month

About 30 minutes of your time a month.

  • A monthly visibility report against 3 competitors you name
  • Fact checks across the assistants and your listings
  • Fixes, made as problems turn up
  • Review reply drafts, ready for you to approve
  • Phone and web-form tests
  • A 10-minute walkthrough video

Methodology

How the evidence gets made.

You've heard plenty of marketing pitches. This is the part they skip: where the numbers come from, and the rules I hold myself to.

  1. 01

Primary evidence is the consumer apps.

The answers that count are the ones from the same apps your customers use. Any other capture source has to prove it matches those apps before its answers count (see the calibration rule).

  2. 02

Hand spot-checks against the real apps.

I run searches by hand in the real apps and compare them with the captured answers. Claude gets hand spot-checks only. Those are reported as notes, never as counts.

  3. 03

A calibration rule, written down in advance.

Before any paid scan, every capture source is compared with hand captures from the real apps. A source whose answers overlap with the real apps less than 60% of the time gets demoted to notes. The rule was set before the data came in, and it doesn’t move.

  4. 04

    Counts, not percentages.

“Named in 3 of 18 answers” tells you what happened. “17% share of voice” from 18 answers dresses up a small sample as a statistic. You get counts. Every number in a report traces back to a stored capture.

  5. 05

Every screenshot is a real capture.

No mockups. No recreated chats. If a screenshot is in your report, it came from the app.

  6. 06

    Legal by design.

Every call is dialed by a person. Nothing is recorded. No texts. No AI voices. Numbers are checked against the Do Not Call registry before I dial. After-hours test calls are one real service question, a few minutes at most, never after 8 p.m. I never make a fake booking, and I answer truthfully if asked who’s calling.

  7. 07

    Kill criteria, in writing.

Kill criteria and decision gates are documented in writing before each phase begins.

Results, stated honestly

What I promise, and what I don't.

Nobody controls what an AI assistant says. What you can control is whether the facts it reads are right, and whether your phone gets answered. That's the job.

What you can hold me to

  • Wrong facts corrected, on accounts you own.
  • Every fixed fact re-checked at 2, 4, and 8 weeks.
  • Before and after for each fact, shown as observed counts.
  • Phone and form tests, with the results written down.

What I won't promise

  • Rankings.
  • That an assistant will name you more by some date.
  • Any number I can’t show you a capture for.
